    State of Emergency in Japan Lifted in 39 Prefectures

    The government of Japan has declared that the national State of Emergency will be lifted in 39 prefectures as of today, 14 May 2020. The 8 prefectures which remain under a State of Emergency until 31 May 2020 are: Tokyo, Osaka, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Hyogo, Kyoto and Hokkaido. The State of Emergency has been lifted in the remaining 39 prefectures.

    Update to Singaporeans on State of Emergency

    The government of Japan has declared that the State of Emergency will be extended nationwide until 31 May 2020. The Japanese government has urged continued cooperation from residents from the 13 Special Alert Prefectures where there has been a high number of COVID-19 cases (Tokyo, Osaka, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Hyogo, Fukuoka, Hokkaido, Aichi, Kyoto, Ishikawa, Ibaraki, Gifu) to reduce social interactions by 80% in order to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

    Declaration of a State of Emergency in Japan

    The government of Japan declared earlier this evening a State of Emergency in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka Prefectures. The State of Emergency will last for one month, from 7 April to 6 May 2020.

    Expansion of the Enhanced Stay-Home Notice Requirements to all countries

    From 9 April 2020, 2359 hours, all Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders entering Singapore will be required to serve a 14-day self-isolation at dedicated Stay-Home Notice (SHN) facilities.
