06 December 2018
The Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests) protests will likely continue across France on Saturday, 8 December 2018. As with the three preceding Saturdays, the protests may cause major traffic disruptions. In addition, clashes with law enforcement officers, destruction and looting of public and private property, vandalism, and other violent behaviour may also be perpetrated by criminal and extremist elements among the protesters in some locations in major cities, including Paris. A number of public events scheduled on the day, such as the match between the Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier football clubs, have reportedly been cancelled for security reasons.
Singaporeans who are either travelling to or already in France are strongly advised to avoid large gatherings and demonstrations, monitor local media for the latest developments and heed the instructions of local authorities. Due to disruptions of traffic circulation and public transport, especially in and around the protest areas, they are also advised to allow for more time to get from one place to another.
