Notice - Job Scams

There have been a number of cases of Indian nationals being cheated through fake job offers. Fraudsters typically use the names of legitimate companies or companies that are not even registered in Singapore to scam unsuspecting victims. The Singapore High Commission would like to advise the public to approach such companies in Singapore directly to enquire on the authenticity of such offers.

Latest case is that Indian nationals receiving job offers from a company named M/S OB Logistics claiming to be based in Singapore. However, checks reveal that there is no such company registered in Singapore.

Would-be applicants are also advised to visit the Ministry of Manpower website at www.mom.gov.sg. It contains details of work passes and permits applicable to all foreigners who intend to work in Singapore, which need to be obtained before they start work. In particular, it should be noted that successful work permit applicants will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) after the work permit application is approved. To verify whether the IPA is genuine, applicants can visit www.mom.gov.sg. Click on “Work passes and permits”, select “Work Permit for foreign worker” and select “Application Status Check via Work Permit Online (Non-login)” under the eServices and forms portion. This service is open to the general public and is free of charge.
