Passport holders whose passports has run out of pages or reached it’s full validity cannot be extended. They must apply for a new passport.
Passport extension is only applicable to National Service (NS) liable male Singapore Passport holders aged between 11 and 17 1/2 years who have passports issued before 15 Aug 2006. NS liable Singapore Biometric Passport (issued after 15 Aug 2006) holders have to apply for a new passport once the current passport expires. Passport extension facility is not available on-line via APPLES.
Collection of Passport
The Embassy will inform the applicants when we received the new passport from ICA in Singapore. The applicants must come to the Embassy personally with the current passport to collect the new passport. All new passports that are not collected within 3 months from date of issuance will be returned to ICA without refund of the application fee. If you are planning to travel with the new passport, please be advised to collect the new passport early as you will be required to go to the relevant Chinese authorities to transfer your visa to the new passport before you are allowed to travel out of China. This process may take some time. Once the applicants have collected their new passports, the old passport will be invalidated.
NS liable male Singaporeans
If you are between 13 and 16 1/2 years old, you need to apply for an exit permit from Ministry of Defence (Mindef) if you intend to travel or remain overseas for 3 months or longer. You can apply for an exit permit through an e-application available at Mindef website (http://www.ns.sg).
