Ambassador Chua Siew San’s Visit to Wieng Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, from 9-10 March 2014.

At the invitation of the Singapore-Thai Chamber of Commerce (STCC), Ambassador Chua Siew San visited the Wieng Kaen district in Chiang Rai Province from 9-10 March 2014. Ambassador Chua visited Baan Nong Village, where she attended the Opening Ceremony of the "Singapore Road", a 2-km road leading to Baan Nong Village which the STCC has helped to construct. In addition, Ambassador Chua presided over the launch of the water purifying system donated by the STCC to Khun Kwak Pittaya School. During the visit, Ambassador Chua had the opportunity to interact with the residents of Baan Nong Village and the students of Khun Kwak Pittaya School and Panghud Sahasart School, and presented them with gifts of Singapore snacks and beverages.

Opening Ceremony of Exercise Cobra Gold 2014


Exercise Cobra Gold 2014 was officially opened by US Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Kristie Kenney and Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Admiral Amorntep Na Bangchang, representing co-hosts US and Thailand, on 11 February 2014 at Akatosarot Camp.  Featuring seven participating countries and a number of observer countries, Ex Cobra Gold is one of the largest multilateral military exercises in the region and is a symbol of our strong cooperation.  Singapore, a full participant country since 2000, was represented by Lee Chong Hock, Deputy Chief of Mission, Singapore Embassy in Bangkok at the ceremony.
