Reception hosted for National Defence College Class 59, 7 December 2016


Ambassador Chua Siew San hosted a reception for participants of the National Defence College, Class 59 at Plaza Athenee Hotel on 7 December 2016. Also present was NDC superintendent Lt Gen Chaianan Jantakananuruk. The NDC conducts a year-long course for high-level officials and eminent persons from the Thai government, military and private sector, and would be making a study visit to Singapore from 15 to 17 December as part of their course this year. Ambassador Chua reaffirmed the strong personal bonds between Singaporeans and Thais that are built up by the exchange of visits such as these, and wished the NDC course participants well ahead of their trip.

YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2016, 18 to 20 November 2016

 

The Embassy took part in the 63rd YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar from 18 to 20 November 2016 at CentralWorld. We sold Singapore products such as Khong Guan biscuits and Tong Garden nuts, among others, with proceeds going to charity.

Singapore Film Festival, Bangkok, 16 to 19 June 2016

 

The Singapore Film Festival 2016 was held from 16 to 19 June 2016 at SF Cinema, CentralWorld.  Organised by the Embassy in conjunction with SF Cinema, the Festival showcased 5 Singapore films ranging from classics like comedy/drama "12 Storeys" and musical comedy "881" to more recent releases like "1965", "7 Letters" and "Long Long Time Ago".

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean’s visit to Bangkok, 29 to 30 May 2016

 

DPM & Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean visited Thailand from 29 to 30 May. DPM Teo had an audience with and was hosted to dinner by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and made a courtesy call on President of the Privy Council General Prem Tinsulanonda. He also met Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prawit Wongsuwon and Minister of Interior General Anupong Paochinda.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s introductory visit to Bangkok, in conjunction with 12th Singapore-Thailand Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) Coordinating Meeting, 28 March 2016

 

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan made his introductory visit to Thailand on 28 March 2016. Minister Balakrishnan called on Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House, where both sides reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding bilateral ties. 

 

Minister Balakrishnan was hosted to a working lunch by Thai Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic and Foreign Affairs Dr Somkid Jatusripitak. Deputy Prime Minister Dr Somkid welcomed greater investment from Singapore to support Thailand’s economic reforms. Minister Balakrishnan also made a courtesy call on Thai Privy Councillor General Surayud Chulanont.

 

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also granted Minister Balakrishnan a royal audience at the Srapathum Palace in Bangkok. HRH hosted lunch before taking Minister Balakrishnan on a tour of the beautiful palace grounds, which includes a museum dedicated to the Royal Family.

 

Minister Balakrishnan and Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai jointly officiated at the Opening Ceremony of the 12th Coordinating Meeting of CSEP (CSEP 12). CSEP 12, which involved over 30 civil service agencies from both sides, reaffirmed broad areas of collaboration, including in regional challenges such as transboundary haze, cyber security, and the management of infectious diseases.

Memorandum of Understanding between the Thailand Judicial Training Institute and the Singapore Judicial College

 

Ambassador Chua Siew San attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Thailand Judicial Training Institute (JTI) and the Singapore Judicial College (SJC) on 18 March. 

The MOU strengthens collaboration between JTI and SJC in the area of judicial training and facilitates exchanges between judges of both countries.
