His Excellency Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, President of the National Security Bureau of the State of Kuwait, will visit Singapore from 14 to 16 November 2017 under the S R Nathan Fellowship at the invitation of Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman.
During his visit, Sheikh Thamer will call on Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean and have separate meetings with Minister for Communications and Information, and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, and Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. Sheikh Thamer will also be hosted to tea by SMS Maliki. Sheikh Thamer will also be delivering the 4th S R Nathan Distinguished Lecture entitled “Geo-Political Challenges in the Gulf Region” organised by the National University of Singapore’s Middle East Institute.
The S R Nathan Fellowship is a high level programme where foreign leaders, prominent personalities and opinion-shapers are invited to Singapore to exchange ideas and experiences on important issues with Singapore leaders and senior government officials. The Fellowship was launched by former President S R Nathan and then-Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam in November 2012.
