Travel Advisory: Unrest in Israel and the Palestinian Territories

12 September 2019
Outbreaks of violence and clashes continue to be reported in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, especially along the Israel-Gaza Strip border. Rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip and retaliatory strikes by Israel were reported on 11 September 2019. The security situation along Israel’s northern border also remains volatile.

Singaporeans are advised to avoid all travel to the Gaza Strip, and non-essential travel to the West Bank, including Bethlehem, Jericho and Ramallah, and Israel’s borders with the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Syria.  Singaporeans should also exercise a high degree of caution in Jerusalem, especially in the Old City and East Jerusalem.

For Singaporeans travelling to or residing in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, they are advised to remain vigilant, monitor the local news and developments closely, heed the instructions of local authorities and avoid areas known for public disturbances or where large crowds congregate. They should take all necessary precautions for personal safety including purchasing comprehensive travel and medical insurance.

In addition, Singaporeans are strongly encouraged to eRegister with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at
https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg so that we can contact you should the need arise.  Singaporeans are also advised to stay in touch with your family and friends so that they know you are safe.  Those who need consular assistance while in Israel or the Palestinian Territories may contact our Consulate-General in Tel Aviv or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Duty Office (24 hours) at:
