Update on Hurricane Dorian

04 Sep 2019

According to latest updates from National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Dorian is now a Category 2 hurricane. Life-threatening storm surge and dangerous winds are expected along portions of the Florida east coast and the coasts of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina regardless of the exact track of Dorian’s center. Water levels could rise well in advance of the arrival of strong winds. The risk of wind and rain impacts along portions of the Virginia coast and the southern Chesapeake Bay are increasing. Residents in these areas should continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Dorian and follow advice given by local emergency officials.

Singaporeans in the path of Hurricane Dorian are advised to be vigilant, take necessary precautions and ensure that you have your hurricane plan in place. We encourage you to visit the US Federal Emergency Management Agency’s website for information on how to prepare for a hurricane. We also advise that you heed the instructions of local authorities at all times, including evacuation orders. Do also stay in touch with your family and friends so that they know you are safe.
