Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing visited Shanghai from 4 to 6 November 2018 to attend the inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE). Minister Chan attended the opening ceremony of the CIIE and made a tour of the Singapore companies’ booths. Singapore companies, with their strong branding and commitment to high quality standards, could introduce differentiated products and services to China’s huge and growing domestic market. On the sidelines of the CIIE, Minister Chan met PRC Minister of Commerce Vice Minister Fu Ziying with whom he discussed the upgrade of the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (CSFTA) and PRC Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Singapore. Minister Chan also took the opportunity to meet Singaporeans living in the Yangtze River Delta region and was the Guest-of-Honour at the launch of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham) Shanghai Chapter on 5 November.
