CG Ong Siew Gay was invited to speak at the Silk Road Economic Belt Cities International Forum in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province in early June 2015. In his speech, CG highlighted the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC), which pre-dated the ‘1 Belt 1 Road’ initiative, and the ASEAN Economic Community. CG also touched on Singapore’s longstanding efforts in supporting China’s development through Government-to-Government projects like the Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-city, as well as the upcoming third project in western China. At the sidelines of the forum, CG was hosted to lunch by Yiwu Mayor Sheng Qiuping, together with representatives from other countries.
