SINGAPORE GENERAL ELECTION AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE IN SHANGHAI ON 10 JULY 2020

The Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Shanghai will serve as an Overseas Polling Station (OPS) for the Singapore General Election 2020. Only overseas electors registered to vote at the Consulate-General in Shanghai will be permitted to enter the premises to cast their votes that day.  All other Consulate services and functions will be closed that day.

The OPS will be open from 8.00am to 8.00pm.  Please come early to vote and avoid the peak periods during lunch hour and after 6.00pm.

Registered overseas electors will be required to present one of the approved original identification documents (NRIC or passport or identity cards issued by Ministry of Defence, Singapore Police Force or Singapore Civil Defence Force) and their poll letter at the OPS.

Registered overseas electors who have provided valid email addresses to the Elections Department (ELD) would have received an email with their poll letter. Hardcopies of the poll letters along with administrative instructions relating to procedures at the overseas polling station and on COVID-19 precautions were also mailed out to those with complete local addresses registered previously with ELD. Overseas electors who can access the ELD’s eServices at http://www.eld.gov.sg/online.html with their SingPass can also retrieve their poll letter electronically.

We encourage you to read through the administrative instructions carefully, in particular the safety measures and precautions, to ensure the health and safety of overseas electors, election officials at the OPS and the broader community. You are also reminded to abide by prevailing local laws and regulations, including movement restrictions on unwell persons and any local lock-down rules due to COVID-19. If you are unwell (e.g. have a temperature of 37.5ºC and above), you are advised to exercise social responsibility and not undertake travel to the OPS.  In line with the relevant local guidelines, temperature checks will be conducted before entry is permitted. Those with a temperature reading of 37.5 deg C and above will not be allowed entry into the consulate compound.
