NOTARISATION OF SINGAPORE DOCUMENTS TO BE USED IN VIETNAM

 

A. Notarising Government Documents

All documents issued by Singapore Government Departments (eg. Registry of Marriages Certificates, Birth Certificates and Educational Certificates from local government schools) in their original text will be directly legalised by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) or the Singapore Consulate-General in Ho Chi  Minh City.

However, computer-generated documents (eg. Registry of Marriages Search Results, Adoption Petition, Tax Documents from Inland Revenue Singapore, etc) must be certified by SAL first, before presenting to the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore or the Consulate-General for legalisation.

Commercial documents (eg. Invoices, Bills of Sales, Certificates of Origin, Fumigation certificates, etc) should be certified by any of the four Chambers of Commerce (International, Chinese, Indian & Malay) or the Singapore Manufacturers' Association, followed by SAL before presenting to the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore or the Consulate-General for legalisation.

1)      Procedures:

For notarisation of any true copies or true signatures/seal/stamps documents, please present the photocopy together with the original document for verification at the Singapore Consulate-General office in Ho Chi Minh City.

After the original documents are presented and duly notarised/legalised by the Consulate-General,  the document(s) should be notarised by the Department of External Relations (DER) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), located at 184Bis Pasteur Road, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, HCMC, before proceeding to notary public(s) or Justice Division of the District People’s Committee for translation (if needed).

2)      Processing Time: 1 working day

3)      Submission Time: Mon-Fri (except public holidays), 9am – 11.30am.

B. Notarising Non-Government Documents

1)      Procedures: Non-government documents (foreign / private / company documents) for use overseas are to be notarised as follows:

a)       Notarised by a Notary Public in Singapore (any law firm offering notarial services). To be issued with a notarial certificate.

b)      Certified by the Singapore Academy of Law

c)    After that, there are two options:

Option 1 - Certified by the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore for notarisation and translation into Vietnamese.

Option 2 - Certified by the Singapore Consulate-General in HCMC. After that, these documents have to be notarised by the Department of External Relations in HCMC located at 184Bis Pasteur Road, Ben Nghe Ward,
District 1, HCMC, before proceeding to a notary public(s) or Justice Division of the District People’s Committee for translation into Vietnamese (if required).

NOTARISATION OF VIETNAMESE DOCUMENTS TO BE USED IN SINGAPORE

  1. Bring the documents to a local Notary Public or Justice Division of the District People’s Committee for legalisation and translation.

     

  2. Notarised documents are then presented to the Department of External Relations (DER) in HCMC, located at 184Bis Pasteur Road, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, HCMC.

     

  3. After the legalisation by DER, the documents should then be brought to the Singapore Consulate-General for legalisation.

     

  4. Documents which are submitted to the Singapore Courts have to be translated into English by a certified translator.

 

ATTESTATION OF SIGNATURES

For documents which require your signature in the presence of a Consular Officer, please visit the Consulate-General during operating hours. Do ensure that the document in question reflects the requirement for a Consular Officer to witness your signature. Please bring along your original passport/NRIC for verification of identity.
