Ambassador Tan Hung Seng acts as Discussant for Qatar’s 3rd WTO Trade Policy Review, 6 & 8 April 2021

Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Ambassador Tan Hung Seng, acted as the discussant for Qatar’s 3rd WTO Trade Policy Review (TPR) on 6 & 8 April 2021. Qatar’s delegation for the TPR was led by Minister of Commerce and Industry H.E. Mr Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari. Ambassador Tan’s statement on 6 April focused on the positive steps that Qatar has taken to improve its trade and business environment since its last TPR in 2014, such as the progress that has been made in Qatar’s digital economy. There was good engagement at the meeting, with 31 Members sharing their views on Qatar’s trade policies. The surveillance of national trade policies is a fundamentally important part of the WTO’s monitoring work.
