The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) was founded in 1919.  With 185 member Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, including the Singapore Red Cross Society (SRCS), it is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. The IFRC's work focuses on four core areas: promoting humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care. The SRCS cooperates with the IFRC and/or ICRC, in responding to regional and international humanitarian crises. Singapore hosted the 7th Asia & Pacific Regional Conference of the IFRC in November 2006.
