The Singapore Scholarship was initiated to provide an opportunity for promising students across ASEAN to advance their studies in a Singapore university. The programme is a part of Singapore’s continuing efforts, as a founding member of ASEAN, to share its development experience with fellow regional partners. Programmes such as the Singapore Scholarship emphasise the development of human resource capacity of individual ASEAN countries, with the long term aim of assisting efforts at ASEAN integration. It is hoped that scholars from the programme will return to contribute meaningfully in the service of the countries and communities they live in.
