Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will make an official visit to the United Mexican States from 16 to 20 May 2014. This visit will be the first-ever stand-alone bilateral visit by a Singapore Foreign Minister.
During his visit, Minister Shanmugam will meet with Secretary of Foreign Affairs Jose Antonio Meade, and conduct the second round of bilateral political consultations between Singapore and Mexico which started in Singapore in August 2013. He will also meet with Secretary of Tourism Claudia Ruiz-Massieu Salinas.
In addition to the official meetings, Minister Shanmugam will deliver a lecture organised by the Mexican Diplomatic Academy, Instituto Matias Romero, on “Bridging the Pacific: The Singapore-Mexico Partnership” to the diplomatic community, business leaders, media representatives and private sector personalities. Minister Shanmugam will also meet separately with Mexican business leaders and representatives from Singapore companies based in Mexico City.
