MFA SPOKESMAN'S COMMENTS
In response to media queries on a recent Berita Minggu report on 24 February 2002, raising questions over Singapore's reclamation of land in several areas, including Tuas, an MFA Spokesman said:
"We have informed the Malaysian Government that the land reclamation works are carried out by Singapore entirely within our own territorial waters. The issue of encroachment does not arise. Furthermore, such reclamation works cannot in any way affect the territorial waters boundary delineation agreed to between Singapore and Malaysia."
