CONSULAR MATTERS - REQUEST FOR A "NO OBJECTION LETTER" FOR THE CONVERSION OF J-1 VISA

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. A covering letter providing your local contact address and number as well as reason(s) for the request of the "No Objection Letter";

  2. Your US INS Case file reference number;

  3. Notarised/Certified true copy of the relevant Passport bio-data and visa pages;

  4. Notarised/Certified true copy of education qualifications with all the relevant certificates;

  5. Any other relevant document(s) (if necessary) such as letter from the relevant agencies in Singapore, your current Institution, potential employer, etc. when you obtained your J-1 visa;

  6. If this is a new job offer/new position offered to you, please submit the appointment letter from the employing firm, stating clearly the date of commencement and the duration of the employment;

  7. If this is an extension of service at your current employing firm, please submit a letter from the current employer, stating reasons for extension and the expected length of extension;

  8. If this is a further training/studies, please submit the acceptance letter from the tertiary institution, stating the period of training/study. Scholarship applicants must also submit a letter from the sponsoring institution. The length of training/studies should be indicated;
NOTES:

The processing time for the issuance of the "No Objection Letter" is normally 6 to 8 weeks. Please do not send any original documents or payment with your application. Notarised/Certified true copies of the required documents are to be submitted instead.
