ITEMS TO NOTE FOR RENUNCIATION OF
SINGAPORE CITIZENSHIP

This
set of renunciation application form may take you
approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete
after reading the attached Instructional Note.
-
You
will need the relevant documents mentioned in this
Note to complete the application form.

- A citizen of Singapore can
only renounce his/her Singapore citizenship if he/she is of or
over the age of 21 years and has acquired citizenship of another
country.
- Please complete the attached
declaration form and take note of the following:
- It has to be affirmed
before a Consular Officer of Singapore or a local Notary
Public/ a person for the time being authorised by law in
your country of residence to administer an Oath for any
judicial or other legal process (with his/her Official
Seal/Stamp affixed next to his/her signature / Appointment
Letter).
- Your name written on the
form is to follow Singapore Identity Card or Singapore Birth
Certificate (if you were not issued with a Singapore
Identity Card).
- To countersign next to any
amendments if you have made on the form.
- Not to use correction
fluid on the form.
- When submitting the
declaration to this Office for registration, please forward the
following :-
- A processing fee of US$27
in the form of a Money Order or Cashier’s Check made
payable to the “Singapore Consulate General”. Please do not
send cash by post.
Payment may be made in cash if you are submitting the
application in person over
the counter. Please note that personal checks are not
accepted.
- Photocopy of your
Singapore Birth Certificate OR return the original Singapore
Citizenship Certificate for cancellation.
- Return the original
Singapore Identity Card and original Singapore passport for
cancellation;
- A certified true copy of
your foreign citizenship certificate and passport. Such
certification must be made by the foreign Government
Authority or the foreign
country’s representation nearest to you in your country of
residence.
- If you have changed your
name, you have to produce documentary evidence from
the relevant authorities to substantiate the change (eg Deed
Poll, Marriage
Certificate, Change of Name Certificate, etc.)
Privacy Statement
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority collects
personal information to administer immigration and
registration functions in Singapore. It may share
necessary data with other Government agencies (of
non-Government entities which have been authorised to
carry out specific Government services) to process any
applications you have made or to render you a service,
so as to serve you in a most efficient and effective
way, unless such sharing is prohibited by legislation. |
Processing time is approximately 8 to 12 weeks from the receipt of
complete
documents. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority will inform you
in writing if you
have successfully renounced your Singapore citizenship.
