APPLICATION FOR SINGAPORE CITIZENSHIP

The following are some categories of person who may apply for Singapore citizenship:

1.   Adults (at least 21 years of age) who have been Singapore Permanent Residents for 2 to 6 years prior to the date of application.

2.   Singapore Permanent Residents who have satisfactorily completed full-time National Service.

3.   Spouse of Singapore Citizen with a minimum of 2-year SPR and married for at least 2 years preceding the date of application.

4.   Child born outside Singapore whose parent is a Singapore citizen.

Children born in Cambodia to Singapore Citizens

A child born to Singaporeans in Cambodia may be eligible for Singapore Citizenship by Descent under Article 122(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, if any of the following conditions can be met:

1. Father of the child is a Singapore citizen by birth, and is legally married to the child’s mother at the time of the child’s birth.
    

2. Mother of the child is a Singapore citizen by birth, child was born on or after 15 May 2004.
    

3. Father of the child is a Singapore citizen by registration, and is legally married to the child’s mother at the time of the child’s birth; and the child has not acquired Cambodian citizenship by reason of the child’s birth in Cambodia.
    

4. Mother of the child is a Singapore citizen by registration, and child was born on or after 15 May 2004; and the child has not acquired Cambodian citizenship by reason of the child’s birth in Cambodia.
    

5. Father of the child is a Singapore citizen by descent and is legally married to the child’s mother at the time of the child’s birth or Mother of the child is a Singapore citizen by descent has to complete an additional annex form declaring his/her residence period in Singapore. (Application will only be accepted if applicant fulfils the residency requirement specified in the annex).
