EXERCISES ON NON-VOTER RESTORATION AND REGISTRATION FOR OVERSEAS VOTING
The Elections Department, Singapore, wishes to inform overseas Singaporeans that the list of non-voters is ready for inspection and with this, non-voters are able to restore their names to the Registers of Electors ("RE") and that overseas Singaporeans are also allowed to register themselves as overseas electors for the Presidential Election (if it is contested) via ELD's eServices.
Non-Voter
A non-voter is an eligible elector whose name was expunged from the registers of electors for failing to vote in an election. If you are a non-voter from the 2011 General Election or an earlier election, you can apply to have your name restored to the registers of electors by using the eServices available at http://www.elections.gov.sg/online.html. Please note that applications received by the Elections Department on or after the day when the Writ for an election is issued will be processed only after the election.
Overseas Voting
Singapore citizens who are working or residing abroad may apply to be registered as an overseas elector to vote at one of the 9 overseas polling stations if they satisfy the qualifying criteria. By law, registration will be suspended once the Writ for an election is issued. The Presidential Election must be held not later than 31 August 2011. Overseas Singaporeans who are successful in their applications to be registered as overseas electors will receive an official notification from the Elections Department informing them of the location of their assigned overseas polling station.
Overseas electors can visit the Elections Department website at http://www.elections.gov.sg/ for information on the date/time of polling for the respective overseas polling stations. Overseas polling will be carried out at 9 overseas polling stations located at the Singapore Missions in Canberra, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, San Francisco, Shanghai, Tokyo, Washington and New York.
