You are encouraged to apply for a new passport at the Consulate if your current passport is expiring in about six months or contain no space / pages for visas.
From 15 Aug 2006, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) only issues the 64-page Biometric passport (BioPass) that is machine-readable.In line with international requirements, holders of biometric passports will not be allowed to update their passport photograph.
The Singapore Passport is valid for 5 years for first time applicants. If you are renewing your passport which carries a remaining validity of 9 months or less, the remaining validity of your passport will be carried over to your new passport. In such a case, your new passport will have a validity period of 5 years, plus the remaining validity of your old passport. However, if you are renewing a passport with more than 9 months' validity, your new passport will have a validity period of 5 years and 9 months.

Your representative must be a Singaporean and produce the following documents when submitting your application on behalf at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in Singapore: -
- Documents as shown above (excluding original copies) and your authorisation letter (fax copy is acceptable)
- NRIC of your representative for identification purpose when he / she approaches ICA and
- Processing fee of S$80.00 payable in Singapore
- Sending Passport Application by Courier Service through Consulate
Please submit the documents as shown above and bring the courier fee (subject to the weight of the articles) when you submit your application.
Extension of passport
Passports issued before 15 Aug 2006 to male citizens aged between 11 and 16½ years are valid for 2 years or till the holder reaches 17½ years old, whichever is earlier. The passport may be extended upon application.
Passports which already have a 10-year validity (issued before 01 Apr 2005) / 5-year validity (issued on or after 01 Apr 2005) or contain no space/pages for visas cannot be extended and their holders will have to apply for a new one. Parents of the applicant can submit the application on his behalf. The following are required when submitting the application:
