Many Singaporeans living outside Canberra have asked how they can honour the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
The Singapore High Commission has made special arrangements to open the Condolence Book in Melbourne and Sydney, where we have Singapore government agency offices, for Singaporeans and other well-wishers to pay their last respects to Mr Lee. The Condolence Book will be opened between 10am and 5pm, from Thursday, 26 March to Friday, 27 March at the following venues:
(a) Melbourne – at the office of the Overseas Singaporean Unit, Suite 2716, South Tower, Level 27, 525 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
(b) Sydney – at the office of the Singapore Tourism Board, Level 11, AWA Building, 47 York St, Sydney NSW 2000
Please note that we do not have Singapore government offices in other cities in Australia. If you are unable to sign the Condolence Book personally, you may post your messages on the official website www.rememberingleekuanyew.sg or send your condolence messages to the Singapore High Commission via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or post (address: 17 Forster Crescent, Yarralumla, ACT 2600). We will collate your messages and send them to the Prime Minister’s office in Singapore.
Singaporeans in Australia may also participate in memorial events organised by the various Singapore community clubs or student groups in the different cities. As of now, The High Commission is aware of memorial events in Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. There could also be other events in other cities. We suggest that you contact representatives of the Singapore club or Singapore student association in your respective cities for more information.
