MFA Spokesman's Comments on recent Malaysian press reports about referring the Pedra Branca case to the International Court of Justice

MFA SPOKESMAN'S COMMENTS

In response to media queries on recent Malaysian press reports about referring the Pedra Branca case to the International Court of Justice, the MFA Spokesman commented as follows:

"Singapore has consistently maintained that Malaysia's claim to Pedra Branca should be resolved by reference to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Singapore and Malaysia agreed on the procedure to do this in April 1998, and also agreed on the text of a draft Special Agreement. The next step is to fix a date for both sides to sign and ratify this Special Agreement."
