Straits Times: Three ministers on official trips overseas

THREE Cabinet ministers are heading overseas for official visits today.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be in China till Friday.

He will co-chair the third China-Singapore Forum on Leadership with Minister of the Organisation Department of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Li Yuanchao.

Besides attending the forum, Mr Teo will also be visiting China in his capacity as Minister for Home Affairs.

He will meet his counterpart, State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu, and visit various units of the Ministry of Public Security.

Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam will be in India until Thursday. He will co-chair the second meeting of the Joint Ministerial Committee for Bilateral Cooperation with Indian Minister of External Affairs S.M. Krishna tomorrow.

It is a platform for both sides to review bilateral relations and identify new areas for cooperation.

Mr Shanmugam will also call on Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, will be in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and San Francisco until Sunday.

He will visit leading companies in the infocommunication technology and media sectors to discuss developments and explore collaboration opportunities.
