2012
- Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim made a visit to Brunei Darussalam from 9 to 10 November 2012. Minister Yaacob called on Minister of Communications Pehin Abdullah Bakar and Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Mohammad Abdul Rahman, and was hosted to lunch by Minister of Energy in the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Yasmin Umar. Minister Yaacob also attended Rapsodi, the annual gala variety show produced by Radio Televisyen Brunei and Mediacorp’s Suria under the auspices of the Singapore-Brunei Memorandum of Understanding on Broadcasting Cooperation.
- Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam made a working visit to Brunei Darussalam from 2 to 3 November 2012. Minister Shanmugam had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Minister Shanmugam was hosted to lunch by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, and had separate meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Pehin Lim Jock Seng and Minister of Energy at the Prime Minster’s Office Pehin Yasmin Umar. Minister Shanmugam reaffirmed Singapore’s full support for Brunei’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2013, and discussed the new cooperation initiatives that arose from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s visit to Brunei from 29 to 31 October 2012.
- Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong made an official visit to Brunei Darussalam from 29 to 31 October 2012 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. During the visit, Prime Minister Lee had an audience with His Majesty the Sultan at Istana Nurul Iman. Prime Minister Lee and Mrs Lee were then hosted to a dinner banquet by His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleh. Prime Minister Lee also had a morning walk with His Majesty at Tasek Lama Park followed by breakfast. In addition, Prime Minister Lee was hosted to meals by the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah. Prime Minister Lee also met Speaker of the Legislative Council Pehin Isa Ibrahim, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Yasmin Umar, Minister of Education Pehin Abu Bakar Apong, as well as other ministers and senior officials. Prime Minister Lee also visited Universiti Brunei Darussalam and interacted with Bruneian and Singaporean students.
- During the visit, Prime Minister Lee and His Majesty discussed regional developments. Prime Minister Lee expressed Singapore’s full support for Brunei’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2013. Prime Minister Lee and His Majesty agreed to step up cooperation through several education and youth exchange initiatives. Both Leaders welcomed the proposal for the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam to hold bilateral meetings to discuss monetary and financial issues and areas of mutual interest. They also noted that their respective postal authorities will jointly launch a commemorative stamp in November 2012 as part of the 45th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement.
- Prime Minister Lee was accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence Chan Chun Sing, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower, Hawazi Daipi, Members of Parliament Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef and Mr Desmond Lee, and senior officials from MFA and MAS.
- Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen and Mrs Ivy Ng visited Brunei Darussalam from 22 to 24 September 2012 as the Special Representatives of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to attend the royal wedding of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, the daughter of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The visit was a reflection of the warm friendship and strong ties between Singapore and Brunei.
- Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli visited Brunei Darussalam from 21 to 22 August 2012 in conjunction with Brunei’s Hari Raya celebrations. SMS had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and the Raja Isteri, Her Majesty Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha. SMS Masagos also attended the Hari Raya Open Houses of several Bruneian ministers and the Hari Raya celebrations at Kampong Ayer (the Water Village).
- Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Lui Tuck Yew visited Brunei from 14 to 16 July 2012 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to attend His Majesty’s 66th birthday celebration. During the visit, Minister Lui had a joint audience with His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleh.
- Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean made an official visit to Brunei Darussalam from 23 to 25 April 2012. This was Deputy Prime Minister Teo’s first visit to Brunei Darussalam in his capacity as Minister for Home Affairs. During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Teo had audiences with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, and other senior members of the Royal Family. Deputy Prime Minister Teo also called on his counterparts in the Brunei government. Deputy Prime Minister Teo was accompanied by Mrs Teo Chee Hean and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The visit underscored the excellent bilateral ties and security cooperation between Singapore and Brunei.
- His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, made a working visit to Singapore for the Singapore Airshow 2012 on 17 February 2012 at the invitation of Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen. His Majesty was hosted to lunch by Minister Ng. His Majesty also met President Tony Tan and Mr Lee Kuan Yew, and was hosted to dinner by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Sultan's visit underscored the excellent state of Singapore-Brunei relations and reaffirmed the warm and long-standing ties between our nations.
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and Chairman of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, made an official visit to Singapore from 8 to 12 January 2012 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The Crown Prince was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Salleh, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, His Highness Prince Abdul Qawi, and a delegation of Ministers and senior officials. During the visit, the Crown Prince was hosted to meals by President Tony Tan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The Crown Prince also met Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. The visit emphasised the close and historical ties between Singapore and Brunei, and reaffirmed our bilateral cooperation in areas such as finance and defence.
2011
- Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam made his introductory visit to Brunei Darussalam from 11 to 12 July 2011. He was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his visit, Minister Shanmugam had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and was hosted to lunch by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Pehin Lim Jock Seng also hosted dinner in honour of Minister Shanmugam.
- Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan visited Brunei Darussalam from 14 to 16 July 2011 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to attend the Sultan's 65th birthday celebrations on 15 July 2011.
2010
- Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Raymond Lim and Mrs Lim visited Brunei Darussalam from 14 to 16 July 2010 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to attend His Majesty's 64th birthday celebrations on 15 July 2010.
