MFA Press Statement: Conferment of Award on Mr Edward Lee Kwong Foo by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has conferred upon Mr Edward Lee Kwong Foo, Singapore's Ambassador to Indonesia from 1994 to 2006, the "Bintang Jasa Utama" (First Class Order of Service Award) on 18 September 2007. The Bintang Jasa Utama is Indonesia's highest civilian honour, and is bestowed upon Indonesian citizens and foreigners deemed to have rendered great service to the people of Indonesia. The Indonesian government is presenting Mr Lee the award in recognition of his outstanding and extraordinary contributions in promoting relations between Singapore and Indonesia. This award reaffirms the commitment of both countries towards enhancing already expansive bilateral relations.
